Horses, Haiti and Help

For Family Home Evening last night Rob and I talked to the kids about the earthquake disaster in Haiti. We showed them pictures of people being rescued and of fallen buildings and of the relief efforts. The girls were particularly moved. As a family we decided to donate some money to the cause. Addie has been doing extra chores every day to earn money for a horse (she'll probably be 40 before she can afford it). With her very generous spirit she brought down a couple dollars from her bank. A few minutes later she went a got a couple more dollars. Finally, she emptied her bank and came down with $11- a huge amount for a 6 year old. You could tell it was a difficult choice. She worked so hard for that money, but she said she wanted to do what Jesus would do. Maycie decided she wanted to do the same. She brought down all her change and donated it to the cause too. Rob and I were overwhelmed with the girls generosity and their desire to help those in need.
